Did you ever think about living to be 100 years old or more? Humans are fascinated with longevity. Perhaps this is because we are mortal and what happens after we die really is the great unknown. Currently, fewer than 1 in 10,000 humans will become centenarians. Even fewer will be functional centenarians — engaged, productive, communicative, able to enjoy and appreciate their lives, and share their story with others.

Weekends with Alice is a collection of stories, observations, anecdotes, and wisdoms from the life journey of a woman born in 1915 and who lived to be six weeks shy of 103 years old. At 100 years old, Alice was tidying her house, sweeping her garage, weeding her garden, commenting on the news, and praying for those who mattered to her. At 101 years old, Alice was still evolving – past acceptance and approaching embrace of fusion cuisine, Skype, and gay marriage.
Who inspires you?
As a species, humans can be violent and destructive. Daily headlines are more often discouraging than inspiring.
Nevertheless, there are many remarkable humans on the planet. Some of them are famous and larger than life heroes. Others are just unassuming day-to-day good people.
Role models are the individuals who -- simply by being themselves -- inspire us to be better humans. Our everyday heroes are the ones who should rightly be featured in the headlines.
IF YOU KNOW A REMARKABLE HUMAN WHOSE STORY SHOULD BE SHARED SO THAT IT CAN INSPIRE OTHERS, LET'S FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN.
Whether you write or I write it for you.
It might be a short and sweet as a blog entry. Or maybe a chapter in a book about everyday heroes. Or perhaps even its own book. Let's bring the good humans to the forefront and let them be our legacy.
